Adelphian Singers

Back to Home page.

The singers used in this website are all Christadelphians living in southeast Queensland, Australia. The hymns can be found in  the Christadelphian Hymn Book (2002) and other songs have mostly been composed by Christadelphians and can be found in the three volumes of Worship books. Many recorded their choral parts in their own home and provided their recordings for combining.

The organ (Brisbane City Hall), piano, orchestra or harp were added subsequently.

All but a few of these recordings have been prepared in a now common electronic process. Initially, the concept arose out of the need during the COVID pandemic for singers to find a way to express themselves when mobility was restricted. The concept was so successful that it was decided to continue with preparation and expand the number of hymns and songs. This was done through a combination of individual vocal recordings, combined voices recording in a studio environment and, more recently, through the cloning of some singers and preparation of hymns using their cloned voices.

The process

Each singer was provided with an audio piano accompaniment to the music. They listened to the accompaniment through headphones while recording their singing. The resultant tracks were then combined. Notes and combinations of the Brisbane City Hall Henry Willis pipe organ were recorded over a four hour recording session early one Saturday morning. (We are grateful to the Brisbane City Council for allowing us to do this.) The recordings were then converted into samples. Recordings using the organ of the Royal Albert Hall, London, were made from commercial samples available publicly.

Software used for the final recordings comprised: general production, the DAW Cubase Artist 15, instrumental VST's were mostly Halion Sonic 7 instruments or Native Instruments, and audio production was completed using Audacity. The most recent development has been the availability of the AI software ACE Studio which was used to record hymns using Adelphian Singers' voices. This has saved immense hours of recording of singer's voices of people who are exceptionally busy. Unfortunately, the ACE Studio software has not yet been able to fully clone clear diction. Music recorded using this part of the process is indicated with the qualification 'AI'.

Personnel

All people involved in these recordings (including the cloned voices) are Christadelphians in southeast Queensland. Choral guidance (and some piano accompaniment) has been provided by Judy Collins. Organ and overall production was provided by Laurence Lepherd. (The recordings of the Brisbane City Hall organ were recorded live for the Hope and Hymns segment.) Graphics were prepared by Robyn Anderson and Kylee Mingham.

We pray that our efforts using our God-given abilities, contemporary techniques and facilities will be accepted by God as a contribution to His glory.
